New week — new events! This weekend will be special because May 5th is Easter! This means that this weekend in Lviv is not only interesting but also festive. Especially for you, we have prepared a selection of events that you can visit on April 4 and 5.
An academic informal conversation about classical music
Have you ever dreamed of attending a classical music lecture? If you have the thought that this is a strange desire, because the lectures are extremely boring, then chase it away. An academic informal conversation about classical music will take place this Saturday in Lviv. At this event, you will definitely not feel like a university student counting every minute until the end of the match. On the contrary, you will definitely want to attend such a lecture again.
So, at this event, you will be able to get answers to questions that are “not customary” to ask. “What to wear to concerts?”, “Is it okay to eat while listening to music?”, “What would Bach think of me listening to his chorales?”, “Am I cool/cool enough to go to a concert ?” — these questions will be answered by the speakers of the academically informal conversation: Taras Demko – co-director of the Organ Hall, cultural manager, and Lyudmila Burda – musicologist and SMM.
What will be discussed:
- how and where to listen to classical music?
- about etiquette at concerts (spectator vs organizer)
- is music really necessary in times of war?
- how is music manipulated?
- how the music industry works nowadays.
- about culture as an opportunity for soft power and diplomacy

The premiere of the one-man play “Someone Like Me” in Lviv
Where to spend the weekend in Lviv for fans of theater art? It is certain that the premiere of the one-man play “Someone Like Me” will take place. It will especially appeal to those who adore metaphorical performances. Briefly about the plot:
“Someone Like Me” is a performative-physical solo performance by Nina Khyzhna about the journey of a disembodied being through the bodies of other people. Through the state of their muscles, through their movements, habits, and feelings, the creature learns the various experiences of people who have been in danger caused by war.
In this performance, Nina Khyzhna explores what kind of imprint stress, pain, sadness, and new skills of struggle and survival leave on the body. The basis for the performance was a series of interviews with Ukrainian men and women of various professions, genders, and ages, the youngest of whom is 6 years old, and the oldest is 90 years old.
The main medium of the performance is body language — movement and dance, collected from the expressions, associations, and daily actions of the heroes and heroines with whom the project team communicated.
When: May 4, 2024, 7:00 p.m
Where: Jam Factory (Bohdan Khmelnytskyi Street, 124)

Lecture “Formula of the perfect thief: application of game theory in cinema”
Do you know anything about game theory? Catch a short informative guide below:
Game theory is an exciting scientific field that opens the door to the world of strategic decisions. Outside of economics, biology, and the social sciences, where its influence is undeniable, the methods of game theory found their original application in the film industry. It is on the basis of mathematically verified models of behavior generated with the help of this science that the masters of cinematography create realistic and believable storylines for their visual masterpieces.
Each film is an exciting game space where the characters, like experienced players, play games according to the laws of game theory, intriguing and surprising the audience with unexpected moves and decisions.
If you are interested in this topic, be sure to attend the lecture “Formula of the Perfect Thief: application of Game Theory in cinema” by Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Oleksiy Ignatenko. Using the example of your favorite movie thieves, he will explain the nature of their decisions, and what role game theory plays in this. So if you want to spend the weekend in Lviv not only fun but also useful, then definitely come to this lecture!
