An exhibition of paintings that explores the “dark”

On February 6, at 6:00 p.m., a new exhibition by the artist Petr Smetana “Dark” will open in the “Green Couch” gallery (7 Virmenska St.). This painting exhibition is a continuation of a series of works from the artist’s current period, in which he explores dark as a color of the present, as a concept and form of expression. Free entrance.

“Dark is what remains after bright flashes of light. Dark, which slowly swirls in the air and slowly falls, coloring everything with itself. Dark as a mandatory and forced phenomenon of our present. Dark as the soot from which it all began, as the primordial archetype. It’s dark, like the stage before birth,” Petro Smetana himself writes about his exhibition.

At the “Temne” exhibition, completely new works of monumental size (often several meters) will be presented. Petro showed the first part of this creative stage in the “White World” gallery in Kyiv in October-November 2023. In “The Green Couch” there will be more abstract canvases and an even deeper dive into the “dark”. Opening hours of the exhibition: every day, except Monday, from 12:00 to 19:00.
